Heather Made Boutique

About the Maker

I’m Heather, the maker – I live and create in the beautiful Tree City of Kent, Ohio with my spouse and our two children. I started this online gift boutique in part to having a place to sell the handmade gift items that are my passion, and also to make it possible to work from home and have more time with the kids before they’re grown and gone into the world to make their own dreams come true.
My grandmother taught me how to sew when I was a teenager, and I stitched the first handbags I ever sold at a craft show on her vintage Kenmore machine. I still proudly and gratefully use that trusty machine today for many of my hand-sewn products. My embroidery and laser-cut projects are self-taught, as are my experiments with lapidary and silver-smithing. You’ll likely see the results of the various new mediums I dive into for sale here as soon as I’ve mastered them. I feel I am living my dream, learning as much as I can about all of the things that spark my interest, being with my family and friends, and contributing to my community.
In my previous 20-year professional life, I enjoyed working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and with housing programs. I’m a helper by nature and also by intent, so I supplement my work with social services consulting and am the President of the board of directors for the Kent Community TimeBank. I also volunteer with several other local organizations and love the connections I get to make. In my free time, I also play clarinet in a community band.
My focus in everything I do is on attention to quality and detail that I hope translates to products that people will be proud to gift their loved ones, colleagues, and acquaintances. When I’m not laser-focused on my gift boutique, you can find me voraciously reading, pulling weeds, planting, and harvesting in my garden, swimming, and kayaking, watching shows with my son, and thrifting with my daughter.
Every day is unique and filled with opportunities to learn and to be kind. Thank you for spending a few moments being part of mine.
