I Just Make Stuff

About the Maker

My woodturning career started when I was 8 years old. I have now been turning on & off for about 65 years. During that time, I have turned almost anything you could ever think of. My main items are bowls, platters, cremation urns, and now wooden cowboy, outback & baseball hats. I was invited to a demo at a turning club in Pittsburg, PA where I saw Mike Trucco of Columbus turn a wooden hat. On the way home I told my significant other that I was going to learn how and turn a wooden hat. It took me two years to learn but I finally succeeded and now produce them on a regular basis. I was contacted by the Toby Keith Foundation for a hat donation for his children’s hospital, The OK Kids Korral in Oklahoma City. I was so pleased to learn that the hats raised $2500 for such a worthwhile cause that I have sent them another hat for this year’s fundraiser. I have also made a hat for Ty Pennington of the HGTV series, Rock the Block, Trading Spaces & Extreme Makeovers.
